Austria is the home of 8 million people. Two million of these citizens live in Vienna, the capital city, formerly the residence of the famed Hapsburg monarchy for centuries. Vienna is an international city, full of people from all over the world from employees of OPEC and the United Nations to destitute refugees.
But in this bustling city lies a darkness that fogs the city. The tourist often misses it in the thrill of concerts, museums, and good food. But the suicide rate in Austria is among the highest in the world, just one indication of the desperation of these people.
Of this city of two million, few people claim Jesus Christ alone as their Answer to the punishment for sin.
